AHA Instructor Mentoring Program

The CPR Training Company’s American Heart Association Instructor Mentoring Program develops American Heart Association instructors using real-time experiential learning principles while maintaining all the benefits of a formal instructor development process.

The Value of Mentoring New Instructors

Over the years, our Training Center Faculty noticed AHA Instructor Candidates enter the instructor development process with a wide range of educational backgrounds. Faulty also found the formal instructor class did not close the diverse learning gaps many instructor candidates still had after attending the formal AHA instructor class. As a result, we developed, tested, and continue to hone a mentoring model that closes common learning gaps and includes the required AHA Instructor development content.

Steps to Success

  1. Apply to Get Started

  2. Complete Candidate Screening Interview

  3. Complete Required Paperwork & AHA Online Instructor Essentials Course

  4. Attend a Discipline-Specific Provider Course in the observer role*

  5. Complete Online Class Administration Course

How Instructor Mentoring Works

Our instructor mentoring model is a real-time learning experience. Instructor candidates learn how to become instructors while working alongside a highly experienced instructor for a prescribed amount of time. Once approved, instructor candidates start by observing, and then move towards teaching AHA content while learning how to complete common class administration tasks through self-study online modules. The mentoring and education process occurs during our existing classes and can be completed in as little as two class sessions.

Past American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor Candidates tell us our mentoring process offered them a chance to learn what they did not know and get the answers they needed in real-time. Space is limited, so get started today in our AHA Instructor mentoring program by submitting your application.
