CPR Instructor Residency Program

Real World CPR Instructor Development

Our CPR Instructor Residency program is in place to support AHA Instructor Candidates who seek to become fully practicing AHA instructors with the CPR Training Company.  We specialize in developing CPR instructors inside fully functional and real-time classroom courses. Instructor candidates are enrolled for a specific discipline (BLS, ACLS, or PALS) within the CPR Training Company.

Our residency program is designed with new instructors in mind – giving them foundational tools, resources, competence, and confidence that will carry with them throughout their CPR instructor experiences.

Residency Program Information

Candidates are accepted into one of three residency programs with preference given to previously successful residences or previous CPR Training Company learners. Candidates may only enter one residency program at a time.

  • CPR Instructor Resident (includes BLS and Heartsaver)
  • ACLS Instructor Resident
  • PALS Instructor Resident

Applications for our CPR Instructor Residents open twice a year - June 1st and January 1st.

Summer applications will progress toward instructor status from September through December, and Spring applications will progress toward instructor status from April through July.

Upon acceptance into the residency program, the resident will work with our residency coordinator to establish and customized the resident's training plan and educational timeline.

  1. Review assigned resuscitation research articles
  2. Attend a discipline-specific provider class as an observer
  3. Teach a discipline-specific provider class as an Instructor Candidate
  4. Design and complete an evidence-based video presentation on resuscitation research
  5. Design a small promotion campaign, promoting CPR awareness within the local community
  • Hold a current AHA Provider certification, good for at least six months after application
  • Apply for discipline of choice (Applications open July 1st and January 1st)
  • Attend a Candidate Screening Interview
  • Commit to teaching four classes during the following year at a CPR Training Company location.

There is no cost to the resident. Our Instructor Residency Program is set up like a service loan program in which residences are required to teach, without compensation, four classes in the following year after they complete the residency objectives.
