ACLS Instructor Class (AHA)

Our two day (16 clock hour) American Heart ACLS Instructor Course is designed to grow proficiency in teaching, organizing, coordinating and directing an ACLS Provider Course. ACLS Instructor Candidates must have a firm working knowledge and understanding of the ACLS material  (ECG reading, ACLS pharmacology, teamwork, etc.) before attending our ACLS instructor class.

The instructor candidate will learn how to adequately use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, role play offering coaching skills, simulate providing objective skills performance evaluations, explore AHA Instructor and course policies, and explore all the requirements of conducting AHA ACLS class or skill session.

 Student Teaching

BLS Class

After successful completion of the AHA ACLS Instructor Course, ACLS Instructor course participants will be required to design and conduct an AHA ACLS class. Typically this class will occur at one of the CPR Training Company locations but ACLS Instructor course participants can seek pre-approved for other locations. Regardless of location, the AHA ACLS class must be pre-approved and sponsored by the CPR Training Company. During this initial class TC Faculty will monitor the student teacher and after successful evaluation, the student teacher will be provided with a course completion card and two year certification as an AHA ACLS Instructor.

Course Fees

Our course fees include the ACLS Instructor Manual (mailed to address used during registration), instructor class materials, instructor certification cards (given after student teaching/monitoring), and TC Faculty monitoring (occurring a CPR Training Company location). Instructor candidate must separately purchase and complete (before this instructor course date) the online ACLS Instructor Essentials class. ACCESS ACLS INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIALS ONLINE CLASS.*

Topics ACLS Instructors Can Teach

This instructor class will allow you to teach the following classes/skill sessions:

  • ACLS Provider Class (Initial and Renewal)
  • HeartCode ACLS Skill Sessions

Ongoing Teaching Requirement

The AHA requires that instructors teach at least four classes during the current instructor certification period. Therefore the CPR Training Company requires our sponsored ACLS Instructors to teach at least two classes a year at a CPR Training Company location or endorsed class. Doing so helps the instructor remain proficient in teaching ACLS content and supports ACLS classes sponsored by the CPR Training Company.
